The aircraft and its crew were performing, according to the RAF, an administrative flight from Bagdad to Balad, an Air Base located 65 km northwest of Bagdad. While climbing, the aircraft stalled and crashed near Al Taji, a city located 30 km northwest of Bagdad. Nobody survived and the aircraft was destroyed upon impact. The British Authorities do not exclude the following hypothesis : a bomb's explosion on board or a surface-to-air missile.
