The aircraft was carrying one pilot and two smokejumpers of the Department of Forest. During takeoff from runway 12R, witnesses reported seeing the airplane airborning but not climbing. The twin engine aircraft continued down the runway in a nose up attitude and remained in ground effect until impacting terrain about 600 feet southeast from departure end of runway. One passenger and the pilot were seriously injured. The other passenger was slightly injured. The aircraft was destroyed on impact. |
