On final approach, the twin engine airplane disappeared from radar screens after it crashed in a jungle, near the Rio Negro River, about 15 km from airport. In dark, rescue teams and army corps took more than 6 hours to find the debris and no survivor was found on the crash site. The operator said that the airplane exploded in mid-air a few second before it crashed. For unknown reasons, the aircraft was approaching Manaus at too low altitude. |
