Circumstances

The captain decided to abort the takeoff procedure but the aircraft did not stop before the end of the 12/30 runway (3,200 meters long). The aircraft lost its right undercarriage and right engine and eventually stopped in a swamp and a manioc field located few hundred meters further on. Nobody among the 127 people on board were killed but about 50 of them were injured. The aircraft is considered as write off. The weather was bad during all day and the flight was delayed due to heavy rain falls. According to Board, the crew did not follow the takeoff checklist and pilots made poor coordination.
