While flying at 3'700 feet, the engine exploded and
stopped. The crew elected to carry out an emergency landing in a field
located 49 km from Amakinskaya airport. On landing, the aircraft hit
small trees and crashed. The engine problem was caused by a fatigue
fracture on the number one cylinder. Both pilots escaped unhurt. The
aircraft was carrying 5 barrels of gazoline.
