  • On final approach to Tiksi by night and poor weather conditions, the engine failed. Aircraft stalled and crashed in the Tiksi bay, some 2.5 km from the airport. A passenger was rescued while all five other occupants were killed.
  • It appears the engine failure was caused by a manufacturing defect.
